SoFlo Auto Show, Part 2

Glorious glorious air conditioning, I love it just so darn much! The Miami Beach Convention Center is like a gigantic arctic freezer…. Aaaaaaaaaaaah, so good…… now I am ready to go look at all the beautiful cars for the SoFlo Auto Show.

BTW, as we are talking temperature, the color that stood out all over the show is a deep electric extra shiny blue. Car company after car company must have seen the movie “Blue is the Warmest Color”. If you have not seen the movie, watch it with your wife. Great date movie…. Trust me, you will thank me! You can send me your Amazon Gift Cards you got from Mazda.

Of course, one would ask “Did I review every single car?” HECK NO, I still have a life outside of my extreme worship of the glorious automobile. So, I picked cars here and there to review.

First off, the Toyota section. The first car that ALWAYS draws my eyes is the “Fresh Breeze GT”… In Europe it is called the GT86, here in America it is either the Toyota FRS or the Subaru BRZ, and all of them are the same car. Jeremy Clarkson raved about this car, and I know I need to test it more thoroughly. It is hands-down the best-looking affordable car on the market today. 200hp RWD in a sexy little package, so very nice.

The first concept car to see is the Toyota i-Tril, an enclosed three wheel type of a scooter. I see it as trying to be competition for the upcoming Elio. Three wheel being cheaper on insurance, it’s interesting. However, let’s see if it even gets to see the sun of reality.

Continuing with Toyota is the Lexus section. Granted, driving a Lexus has been the equivalent of soaking in a tub filled with flower pedals and bath salts and listening to Yanni. They certainly have changed. Although, still not a fan of the grill, looks like a blurry hourglass. The new gigantic LC-500 was there, with a matte finish paint job, not the best for a car like this. Car was locked and off, so nothing to say. Next is the RC350. When one builds a SUV, it should have some size to it. However, right off the bat, I noticed that the rear seat would be claustrophobic for even the “Height Challenged” as the term is now coined. It could be used for putting convicts in solitary confinement. Not good.

Now, the Lexus I became interested in was the UX, their newest model and introduction into the CUV market. It’s low, wide, and small. Therefore, it is competition for the X2. Yet another car I will talk about in an upcoming article.

I hit my old favorite next, Audi. I break out my ropes and other mountain climbing equipment to climb up into the Q7. One of the most popular options in the “Soccer Mommy Mobile” club. Room for 7…classrooms of kids, easy in the club, although a surprising lack of USB ports, just lots of lighter ports. I guess soccer mom’s let their kids smoke early. Also peaked at the Q8, Audi’s new edition. The interior is all computer screens, and plenty of USB ports. The back seat is voluminous, I’m actually comfortable back there. Then, there was the S5 Sportback, Audi’s competition for the BMW 4 Series Grand Coupe. Another one of these “We Germans say that any number of doors still counts as a two door coupe”. Quilted Alcantera Leather seats, makes me feel all gooey happy inside. Add the carbon fiber accents, and me likey.

Ok, breaking up my articles so you don’t spend all afternoon reading. Part 3 coming soon…
